Happy Valentine's Day
Yes, you are all our Valentines! Of course, we may not be as charming and sexy as the one who will share this day with you, but we do offer some benefits...
First of all, we have closed an excellent year end 2019 for our members as you will discover at our next General Meeting (see below).
Then, we are happy to offer you an exclusive article from our beloved Managing Director on his most secret (or not) financial tricks.
And Adrienne, our lovely Academician, will once again offer you her knowledge in our column, while Virginie, our Chief Valentine Officer, will show you the flamboyant new colours of your credit card.
Isn’t this Love?
Stéphane Argyropoulos
President of the Board of Directors
Mark your calendars: 2020 Annual General Meeting
The twenty-ninth Annual General Meeting will take place on Saturday June 27, 2020 at 10 am, at the Novotel Luxembourg hotel (Kirchberg).
The Call for Candidates for Statutory Elections and the Practical Aspects will be sent to all members by post in the first week of February. The Board of Directors comprises 8 members elected by the General Meeting for a period of two years and one-half shall be renewed every year. This year, to replace the late Jean-Pierre Cébron, there will be 5 vacancies. The four members with the most votes will hold a mandate for two years and the fifth for one year. Outgoing Board members shall be eligible for re-election and anyone interested in becoming a candidate will have to send their application by Friday 28 February.
AMFIE has an option on a number of rooms for members who wish to attend the Meeting. If you would like to reserve a room, do not hesitate to inform Estelle Sommier (estelle.sommier@amfie.org) before Wednesday the 13th May.
The notice to the Annual General Meeting with the Agenda and the ballots, together with the curriculum vitae of the new candidates will be sent the third week of May.
With the exception of the ballots, which contain personal data, you can find all the documents relating to the General Meeting on amfie.org in the member area.

The Discretionary management mandate is evolving
The yields offered by quality bond issuers being very low (and even for a large majority negative), it is essential to diversify into other types of investments in order to enable your savings to grow. This is what AMFIE is doing in order to offer good returns to its members. The discretionary management mandate has been amended to allow members’ assets to be invested in real estate, while maintaining a conservative management policy. The new version of the mandate is available in the membership file and will be submitted to all our members. It will be sent by post with the net worth statements (you can use the reply coupon) and it will also be available on amfie.net thanks to a new module, which will allow you to read and accept it electronically.
Focus on a product: the new VISA proposed by BIL
Last November, The Banque Internationale à Luxembourg (BIL) informed us that on January 1st, all the MasterCards would be replaced by VISA Gold cards (or Gold International without the BIL logo). We relayed this information and processed the changes with our MasterCard holders. But what is the difference between the two cards?
