We are seeking an experienced Senior Compliance Officer with a legal background to join our compliance team. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of professional experience in compliance, with expertise in regulatory frameworks, AML/KYC, MiFID, and internal controls. This role involves ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements, conducting compliance risk assessments, and implementing monitoring programs.
As a key member of the compliance team, the Senior Compliance Officer will report directly to the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) and play a crucial role in maintaining the company’s regulatory compliance framework.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Internal controls & Policies, Procedure:
- Performing AML/KYC checks on new clients;
- Undertake Client Due Diligence and ongoing reviews in compliance with the anti-money laundering requirements;
- Suspicious Activity Review filings;
- Keep up-to-date with regulatory developments, provide analysis to the CCO, on new regulatory developments impacting the company;
- Ensure compliance of the existing policies and procedures;
- Develops and maintains a current library of compliance resources.
Compliance Risk Assessment, Compliance Monitoring Plan and regulatory reports:
- Participates in the annual update of the AML Risk Assessment (“AMLRA”);
- Execute the Compliance Monitoring Plan (“CMP”);
- Follow up on CMP recommendations to ensure closure by target dates;
- Prepare CMP status update for the CCO and the senior management;
- Assist in the preparation of the annual and periodic reports for the CCO.
Support for operational teams and participation in certain projects:
- Provides advice to business on topics covered by the Compliance Function;
- Participates in various projects (business development, IT, organizational, etc.) involving the team;
- Supports Compliance team on various topics (e.g. fund transfers control..).
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Legal, Economics or Finance;
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a compliance role;
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements, particularly in AML/KYC and internal controls;
- Proficiency in compliance monitoring tools and software;
- Microsoft Office tools;
- Fluent in English and French;
- Team spirit and good communication skills (oral and written).
